Our Livestock – Partners, Providers, and Part of the Family

At Nakiska Bear Ranch, livestock is more than just part of the landscape—they’re part of the life we live. As a working ranch, our animals play an active role in what we do every day: they support the land, help sustain our guests and ourselves, and remind us what it means to live in rhythm with nature.

From our goats and hens to our horses and cattle, every animal here is treated with care, dignity, and respect. We believe in responsible, sustainable ranching—where animal welfare comes first, and where nothing is wasted or taken for granted.

Our guests are invited to experience this connection first-hand. Whether it's collecting fresh eggs in the morning, helping with the goats, or simply watching our herd graze in the evening light—these moments are real, grounded, and unforgettable.

Our Goat-Team

At Nakiska Bear Ranch, our friendly milk goats are an important part of daily life. They provide fresh, healthy milk that we use right here on the ranch, following our true farm-to-table philosophy. From the pasture to your plate, every step happens with care, respect, and a deep connection to the land and our animals.

Whitey

The Cautious Mother

Whity is a gentle and watchful mother, always keeping a close eye on her playful kids, Henri and Sweety. Though a little shy at first, she’s always nearby when treats are offered — and never misses a feeding time. Calm and trusting, she lets us milk her.

Watching her care for her little ones reminds us daily of the quiet strength and warmth animals bring to ranch life.

Edda

The Boss

Edda is the undisputed leader of our small goat herd – confident, watchful, and always keeping an eye on her group. Despite her role as boss, she’s the most trusting of all our goats and often seeks out our company.

Whether it’s feeding time, milking, or simply enjoying a gentle scratch, Edda is always right there, bringing calm and balance to the herd.

Sweety

The Little Princess

Sweety is full of curiosity and always the first to explore something new—especially if it might be edible. She loves play-fighting with her brother Heri and often leads the charge when it’s feeding time. But when something loud or unexpected happens, she dashes straight back to mama Whity for safety.

Adventurous at heart, but still mama’s girl.

Henri

The Little Gentlemen

Henri, Whity’s lively son, is full of curiosity and boundless energy. He spends his days hopping through the pen, exploring every corner, and looking for someone to engage in playful wrestling matches.

Always ready for a bit of fun, Henri brings joy and movement to the herd, making sure there’s never a dull moment at Nakiska Bear Ranch.

Our Cattle

Starting in spring 2026, Nakiska Bear Ranch will welcome our first herd of cattle, raised for both milk and meat. Following our farm-to-table approach, we will produce organic, high-quality food right here on the ranch. By sourcing locally and managing our herd sustainably, we reduce environmental impact while bringing fresh, wholesome products directly from our fields to your table.
